Question 1

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you're noticing that your child is harder to understand than other children their age, has a limited vocabulary, struggles to follow directions, or seems frustrated when trying to communicate, it's worth having an evaluation. Early intervention makes a significant difference. When in doubt, reach out — a quick conversation can help you decide.

What age can children start therapy?

Accepted Answer

Speech and language therapy is available for children ages 4–18. Orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) is available from age 4 through adulthood. If you're unsure whether your child falls within the right age range for a particular service, just reach out — I'm happy to help figure out the best fit.

Question 3

What happens at the first appointment?

The first session is an initial assessment. I'll spend time getting to know your child through play and structured activities, and I'll ask you questions about their development and communication history. Afterward, I'll share my findings and we'll discuss a plan together.

Do you offer in-home sessions?

Yes! In-home sessions are available and are often a great option for younger children who feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings. Many families find that children make faster progress when therapy happens in the environment where they spend most of their time.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically 30-45 minutes. Frequency depends on your child's needs and goals — most children benefit from one to two sessions per week. We'll discuss the right schedule during your initial consultation.

How long will my child need therapy?

This varies widely depending on the nature and severity of the communication challenge. Some children make significant progress in a few months; others benefit from longer-term support. I set clear, measurable goals and review progress regularly so you always know where things stand.

Question 7

Do you accept insurance?

Accepted Answer

I am a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many families are surprised by how much their plan covers.
